And finally, a red wine that will blow your socks off for its sheer depth and mouthwatering character. This wine comes from north-west of Stuttgart in the Baden region of Germany, and is produced by an estate that has documented history all the way back to 1251. Needless to say, this is one of Germany's oldest estates, and also one of the largest certified organic estates in the country. The wines produced here are of amazing quality, and this Blaufränkisch is no exception. This is a layered wine, with a beautiful notes of dark chocolate, mint, bramble, and dried red fruits. This wine is a real treat. With 14 years in bottle, it is drinking fantastically well right now. It would be delicious with grilled sausages, mushroom risotto, or red-sauced pastas.
